The references, which are the useful part

Grip wax runs out one colour at a time, according to the winter. Publishing each tin’s own part number means the one that is empty can be replaced singly.

The bands. Red, violet and blue are a shorthand for temperature ranges, and the shorthand only works if the reader already has the key. The TOKO on this shelf prints −2 °C to −10 °C and lets the colour be decoration.
